National Women's Liberation Monthly Meeting
The New York chapter of National Women's Liberation (womensliberation.org) meets the third Thursday of every month in the Cafe at The Commons from 7:30 to 9:30pm. We meet to get at the root of our oppression as women and to strategize how to put the male chauvinist system on the run again. Join us! National Women’s Liberation is perhaps best known for our role in the successful 10-year struggle to get Morning-After Pill contraception over the counter. More recently we are responsible for relaunching the 1969 Redstockings sticker "This Oppresses Women" for slapping on sexist ads. We believe that change comes about from the actions of everyday people—not politicians, the courts, lobbyists, or the media. We also believe that the leadership and participation of women of color is critical to the success of the women’s liberation movement.
