An Evening of Dialogue and Discussion

 

  • Is North Korea really a threat to the United States?

  • What’s the history of US nuclear policy toward North Korea?

  • What is the “freeze for a freeze” proposal?

  • What is the Olympic Truce?

  • Juyeon JC Rhee, Korean grassroots organizer and Board member of both Nodutdol for Korean Community Development and the Korea Policy Institute, will give a basic history of Korea, and background on the current crisis and the Korean-American peace movement.

  •  

  • William (Bill) Hartung, Director of the Arms and Security Project at Center for International Policy and a senior adviser to the center's Security Assistance Monitor, will address issues of U.S. nuclear policy as it relates to North Korea such as: Pentagon spending, including its relationship to other federal budget priorities; U.S. global military reach and interventionism; history and current reality of the military-industrial complex.
